Five Down...

yeah!!! i made it to the weekend. I did it. 16 minutes on the trainer. yesterday hurt more than i thought. i think the day before was easier because of the 36 hour break between rides. but i endured. just so you guys know exactly where i'm at i am only pedaling a cadence of about 45 and i'm in the middle chainring! yes, that is how outta shape i'm in. but like i said at the beginning it's more about me building up the gloots so i CAN ride outside when the moment approaches.

that said according to weather.com the temps will hit 73 around 3pm. so i am thinking i will be heading out around then. we will see.

stay tuned... i will update this later if i do go outside.

Four Down...

ahhhhh... the sound of getting off of the trainer. 15 rather "bearable" minutes. FINALLY my arse is building up tolerance. I guess i knew it would but it was a plesant surprise. i mean it still hurts. ok so today it's 16 then up to 18 on sunday.

next week i decided i would throttle back and put in 10 minutes on the trainer everyday i don't go to the gym or ride outside. i am also adding in the dreaded DIET. that is a four letter word for sure. i'm making it easy starting off. all week i must eat breakfast at the same time every morning and eat the same thing every morning. what? an egg mcmuffin. they are actually quite nutritious if you take off the cheese and even with the cheese they aren't that bad. english muffin, poached egg and canadian bacon. very good breakfast in a pinch. anyways, i haven't figured out the time yet. i'm thinking 10am because i don't usually leave for lunch until 2. i'll let you know more monday after i have that down.

it looks like we might get some riding weather saturday and sunday if that's the case i WONT be riding the trainer if ride outside instead. i still dont know if i'm going to ride outside but i can say one or the other will happen.

i have to say something about verdasco v nadal 5+ hour marathon aussie open match. i no longer ask how'd they do it? i know how. diet and excersise!!! i would argue what they just did was harder than an ironman but as you ironmen and women know it takes a whole lot of training to build your body into a machine capable of accomplishing such a feat. THAT is where i am headed.

stay tuned...

Three Down...

i caught a break yesterday because with all the ice i got to do my trainer ride in the morning. well i say it was a break but of course my butt wasn't even a little recovered from the night before. so it was a little painful to say the least. just so you know i ride the trainer WITH cycling shorts. most of you guys assume that i do but some non cyclists have no clue. padded shorts versus fat outta shape arse = "pain"

so that was 14 and today is 15. i really don't know how i'm doing this. i HATE the trainer and it is almost unbearable sitting on that seat for that long but i'm at a point where if i don't do it when will i? riding a bike is the only way to train to ride a bike?!? my motivation in all this is me looking back at how hard this is now, how large i am now and where i will be in the future. i can't stop now. (this is me psyching myself up) alright just a few more days of this. then it all gets harder. the "diet" portion begins.

Two Down...

OMG... my a55 is not feelin' fine this morning but i did it again. mon 12, tues 13, wed... you guessed it 14 minutes. this is just embarassing for guy that averaged 19.4mph for 150 miles!!! oh, how the mighty have fallen. but just like my Christian walk "everyone falls but only losers stay down" you fall down then brush yourself off and keep moving. it's ALWAYS about today. what are you going to do TODAY! never about yesterday. so i'm going to get out there and make today the best i can and build up my gloots by doing something i hate so i can do be ready for something i love.

isn't that what life is all about?

One Down...

I came home and did what i said. Come home and hit the trainer for the time i'm supposed to. why is this such a big deal? because i absolutely HATE the trainer. but i absolutely LOVE both my Moots. My mountain and road bike. My biggest problem is that i am soooo outta shape i can't really ride either one, so when we have those crazy warm Texas days we had the last 2 weeks i couldn't ride.

By riding the trainer i hope to be in riding shape or more importantly my a55 will be conditioned enough to ride 30 miles without too much pain. i'm telling you riding the griffen BOWLEGGED in the aero position because your big a55 is gut is in the way is NO BUENO!!! stay tuned as the transformation to "the dominator" has begun.

btw it's my parents 45 ANNIVERSARY!!! HAPPY ANNIVERSERY MOM AND DAD!!! talk about Ironman 45 years is a TRUE test of endurance.

TTNW...

i'm writing out my plan this week and decided to ride trainer everyday when i get home increasing by one minute every day. this way i have no excuses. you know it's kinda crazy when you get into the aero position on the griffen you are riding bowlegged cuz your gut is in the way. it's the reason i am blogging and the reason i'm going to make change. I HAVE TO.

bottoming out...

they say you have to hit bottom before you can make a life change. i am getting very close to mine or hit it and are still too close to recognize. i have been super busy at work and sticking to ttnw. problem is i didn't put excercise on the list. i'm too scared to. but that will change next week. this weekend i am planning to do some spiritual cleansing to get me past the hump.

my psychologist, the one that helped me get over losing my fiancee, asked me ONE very groundbreaking question. "when will you love yourself enough to change yourself" when indeed? this weekend. enough is z-enough. there are 2 trainer rides on 4 this weekend. next week i will start logging my eating out so i can get a base line to reduce this number.

the trick to making ttnw work is setting small doable goals that make progress week to week. so after this weekend we shall see.

on another note i found these khakis for commuters

Just Another Day...

no news worthy current event occured today. on a personal note i am losing a bit of steam on my workouts. i have been riding the trainer trying to get me' bum used to the seat again. 11 minutes is almost unbearable but i will be shooting for 12 tomorrow. sorry for the short posts but work has been kinda crazy and me trying to get home and be productive has been tough. more to say tomorrow.

beautiful day...

let me start off by reminding people the type of blog "the daily dominator" is. this is not a religous or political blog. what it is is a journal about my personal journey as a life long athlete. the daily struggles triumphs of diet, excercise and lifestyle of an athlete named "dominator". i just have to laugh at that name, but hey the nicknames that last the longest are the ones given to you. thank you steve t... for this one.

i wish i were in cycling shape. i mean i could load up the moots and drive down to river legacy and ride the 7 mile out n back (14 miles) or i could ride out from the house but i'd have to ride up ascension hill (110 ft elev gain/ 8.5% grade) NOT FUN. or i could go to the gym and do the ellip. or i could do house chores. dunno.

laters for now

maxin' n relaxin'...

taking this weekend to work on planning my "dream" this MLK weekend. for the record i have never worked on MLK day. it's the ONLY holiday i can say that about. so how is my TTNW going? well the chaffing incedent put a damper on things yesterday. cowboy walk was in full effect. so i decided to change my ttnw list to house items that need to get done.

i also have a new website i've been working on for online fundraising. so i'm going to adding those items to the ttnw list as well. regretfully i fell asleep as soon as i got home yesterday so the list was not followed but... its not called the "regret yesterday, today, tomorrow..." list for a DANG good reason.

i'll be coming up with doable items and i will start sharing what those items are when i get some momentum. you know it's that whole "do THEN talk..." thing.

'aight then talk atcha later.

crotch burn... yeah, i went there...

ok, so far i've been sticking to the today, tomorrow, next week life change (no more resolutions, only life change)

my diet is getting more in line. i only ate out for dinner but had breakfast and lunch home cookin'

i showed up at the gym and put in my 30mins on the elliptical. let me just say the scenery was VERY nice. all the more incentive to get ye ole butt to the gym. ok, when i ride i slather up in vaseline to prevent chaffing where the sun don't shine. but i figured i'd be safe on the ellip. WRONG. i should have known something was up when i started smelling smoke. Just kidding but there definately was some heat down there. i'm so fat i don't think this can prevented without vaseline so HELLLOOOO petroleum jelly. i'll try one more time without it to see if i can use some technique to prevent it.

anyways, that's it for now. welcome all you new facebookers to my blog. drop me a comment so i know whose out there.

today, tomorrow, next week...

setting long term goals is good but you really can't do anything with them. long term goals are good to say when people ask and everyone has an answer. "whats your new years resolution?" "oh, lose weight, exercise more and be nicer to people"

can you be more nebulous in your answer? how EXACTLY are you going to do this? i posit this is just small talk crappolla. that's why i these new life rules:

1. DO then TALK. be losing weight, be excerising, be a nicer person then talk about how you ARE doing it.

2. Push goals to the back of your mind. yes, set those goals then push them in the back of your mind. let them be there as the answer to the question of where do i want to be in my life this time next year, five years, or whenever.

3. PLAN for today, tomorrow next week. Write these down. what EXACTLY are you going to do today before and after work, tomorrow before and after work and where do you want to be this time next week (doing the same thing as this week or change it up) if you do this you are no longer thinking about the 1000 mile journey and looking at the single steps.

4. NO EXCUSES for not following number 3. if you do number three correctly you have set reachable realistic goals for yourself so the only way you don't acheive these is if LIFE interferes. examples illness, your car breaks down, or something unforeeable with your kids/pets/family. but keep this in mind if you do them in spite of these things you'll feel even better.

that's it. who am i to talk? no one. but i can say this. by me putting this out there people will be looking for me to follow my own rules so NOW i have some built in accountability, eh? for the record i am the heaviest i have ever been in my life and the most outta shape ever. i finally decided enough is enough and lets see where this takes me. i'll let you know tomorrow about my today, tomorrow next week.

gym, dominator; dominator this is gym...

pleasure to meet you mr. gym. i think i know you. i know we have several mutual friends but it has been a long while i think since we met.

30 mins on the elliptical as promised after work. i am soooo outta shape. i am glad i decided to start with the ellip machine before trying to tackle spin class. at almost 320lbs you gotta be realistic. can't wait for cycling season so i can get some rides in after work but in the meantime it will be me, the ellip and iPod sweatin' to the jamz.

put one foot in front of the other...

ok DAY 1. i stuck to the post workday schedule but ate out every meal. today the post workout deally-o was shopping 4 healthy food.

u c, my best bud muhammad told me "setting goals is not the thing, process is!" think about it. when i accomplished any goal i wasn't thinking about the goal like loosing weight or graduating college. i was thinking of what i had to do today, tomorrow and next week.

so, today: go shopping. tomorrow: go the the gym (elliptical 4 30mins). next week spin class or trainer at home.
